That’s why the IBMA has a youth membership ($15 annually) that extends full professional member benefits for young people. If you will celebrate your 17th birthday in your membership year, or if you are younger than that, you can be an IBMA youth member!

The IBMA Youth Council is programming a special series of events just for youth at the World of Bluegrass in Raleigh, NC. Youth-centered jams, seminars, workshops, performances, and more will be taking place all week, September 25-29, offering more ways than ever to get involved in bluegrass music.

Bluegrass music connects students to a larger community that’s multi-generational and international, and features a blend of musicians (pro and amateur) and fans. Like jazz and blues, bluegrass is an excellent style of music for teaching improvisational skills.

Youth Council

Founded in 2012, the IBMA Youth Council (YC) is comprised of dedicated youth active in the bluegrass community. The YC strives to provide an outlet and direction for an up-and-coming generation of bluegrass and roots musicians and budding industry professionals, including organizing the youth track of events at IBMA’s World of Bluegrass event in Raleigh, NC each year.
