IBMA member and iconic musician John McEuen of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band has published a memoir, The Life I’ve Picked, that has been sitting atop Amazon’s country books chart for the past four weeks now. He details the story of how the Will the Circle Be Unbroken album came to be, as well as the adventure of NGDB being the first American band to tour Russia. He also discusses the first time he met Earl Scruggs (at Vanderbilt University in Nashville) an experience so influential it inspired Will the Circle Be Unbroken.
McEuen is a recently inducted member of the American Banjo Museum Hall of Fame. His newest record, Made in Brooklyn on Chesky Records, was awarded the Best Americana Album by the Independent Music Awards. He is also touring widely with another NGDB-founding member, and is excited to be featuring a lot of bluegrass, including Circle classics. Find out more here.
