The IBMA World of Bluegrass Gig Fair
The International Bluegrass Music Association’s Gig Fair takes place during our annual World of Bluegrass business conference. The event, a rare meet-and-greet opportunity in the midst of a hectic and fast-paced music industry event, serves as an organized information exchange for artists, agents and event producers. We envision the Gig Fair as a first step in building business relationships, and it has become one of the most popular events of the World of Bluegrass week!
How It Works
Each talent buyer will have a station in the Gig Fair with fifteen 5-minute appointment slots (with 1 minute between).
Artists and/or their agents will sign up to speak with four talent buyers (artists and agents may NOT sign up for more than one slot with a particular talent buyer).
Artists and agents are encouraged to bring business cards and a one-sheet profile of their band. There will be several blank profile forms available at the Gig Fair that afternoon, but we recommend coming prepared.
Artists may bring complete promo kits with them to the Gig Fair, which may be given to event producers upon request.
Artists may also bring an iPod or some other portable recording device to the Gig Fair so that event producers can hear a sample of their music upon request. Bear in mind, however, that appointments will be only five minutes long.
Registration for Gig Fair appointments will take place online this year. Artists and agents, this means no more long lines at the crack of dawn for signing up! But be sure to act quickly when online registration opens. These appointments will go fast!
Stay tuned for details!
