Nashville, TN (September 19 2013) – Performer Alison Krauss will be unable to perform, as previously announced, as part of the “epic collaboration” set planned for Friday, September 27 during IBMA’s Wide Open Bluegrass Festival in Raleigh, North Carolina, at Red Hat Amphitheater.
As per the artist’s representative: “Alison Krauss was recently diagnosed with a vocal condition called dysphonia. Alison has been advised to have vocal rest, and therefore will not be performing at Wide Open Bluegrass next weekend. We anticipate a smooth, quick recovery given proper treatment and adequate rest.”
The “epic collaboration” performance will continue with the previously announced superstar lineup of Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, Béla Fleck, Del McCoury, Tony Rice and Mark Schatz. Tickets for Friday’s schedule are nearly sold out; it was announced last week that no tickets remain for Saturday’s shows at the Red Hat Amphitheater/Raleigh Convention Center.
IBMA’s World of Bluegrass 2013 event consists of three main parts: the Business Conference, which runs Tuesday through Thursday, Sept. 24-26, the 24th Annual International Bluegrass Music Awards, scheduled for Thursday evening, Sept. 26, and the music festival – Wide Open Bluegrass – which takes place Friday and Saturday, Sept. 27-28.
IBMA – the International Bluegrass Music Association – is the professional trade organization for the global bluegrass music community. The organization’s three-year stay in Raleigh is the result of a partnership with The Greater Raleigh Convention & Visitors Bureau, PineCone—The Piedmont Council of Traditional Music, the City of Raleigh and a local organizing committee.
