Founded in 2012, the IBMA Youth Council (YC) is comprised of dedicated youth active in the bluegrass community. "The goal is to get kids interested and involved in the bluegrass community," says council chairperson Andy Rigney. The YC strives to provide an outlet and direction for an up-and-coming generation of bluegrass and roots musicians and budding industry professionals. The YC organizes the youth track of events at IBMA's World of Bluegrass event in Raleigh, NC each year. Last year, events included a Youth Stage on Saturday with performances from five talented youth centered bands, a youth jamming room in the Raleigh Convention Center, band drop-ins, and even some free pizza. In 2014, the YC plans to build on the strong foundation it laid last year to produce an even more outstanding set of events and opportunities for the future of bluegrass. For more information about 2014 plans and other the Youth Council activity, contact Andy Rigney (firstname.lastname@example.org), Danny Clark (email@example.com), or Taylor Coughlin (firstname.lastname@example.org.)
The YC is programming a special series of events just for youth at the World of Bluegrass in Raleigh, NC. Youth-centered jams, seminars, workshops, performances, and more will be taking place all week, September 30-October 4, offering more ways than ever to get involved in bluegrass music!
